Easy-to-apply SEO Tips and Tricks to Make Google Love Your Website or Blog
This is a two-part workshop – you’ll need to commit to attending both sessions that will take place on the same day (morning and afternoon session)
This course is part of the London Community Covid-19 Response Fund – Project
On-page Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the practice of slightly altering the content of your web pages or blog posts so that they appear higher in the free / organic Google search engine rankings. This will increase the quantity and quality of your traffic and in turn improve your profits.
SEO is an on-going, long-term marketing strategy, not a quick fix. You won’t get to page one of Google overnight. However, our experienced SEO specialist Mike Loomey will clearly explain the process and deliver this talk in an easy-to-understand, layman’s language, without any unnecessary technical jargon.
When: Thursday 11th February 2021
This is a 4-hour workshop separated into 2 sessions running on the same day. Registrants are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions to get the most out of this workshop.
Session 1, 10am – 12pm
In the morning session, you will learn:
- How to conduct invaluable keyword research to improve your search engine ranking results
- Why you need to have quality backlinks pointing back to your website
- Why having a fast, mobile-friendly, responsive website design really matters
Session 2, 2pm – 4pm
In the afternoon session, Mike will demonstrate in detail some of the best free and low-cost SEO tools to help you on your journey towards page one of Google:

- A detailed walkthrough of the Yoast SEO plug-in for WordPress and how to use it to improve your SEO (without needing to learn a single line of code)

About Mike Loomey:
Mike began learning to design and optimise websites in 2008 after studying “Digital Marketing” at City University London. He then took part in a 12-months Internet Marketing course with MK Link, taught through weekly telephone seminars, backed by a busy teacher / student user forum.
He began creating and optimising websites for individuals & SMEs in 2009 and then in 2010 he re-enrolled at City University to study “Web Design with Adobe Dreamweaver version CS3”. In 2011, he updated and expanded his design skills by studying Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Flash CS5, and Dreamweaver CS5 (levels 1, 2 and 3) at Bromley Adult Education College.
Since 2014, Mike Loomey has run regular monthly seminars on SEO at City Business Library and various other venues. In 2015, Mike continued his regime of continuous professional development by studying at ELATT Web Academy, 2 days a week for 6 months, passing 2 further IT Certificate / Diploma exams.
Having studied and qualified for numerous web-related courses at ELATT, Mike formed 3 in 1 Web Design in 2015 and began collaborating on several web design and SEO projects with three fellow ELATT graduates. The company now employs 7 freelancers in total in various different capacities, and continues to grow.
When I was made redundant from an “Accounts Office Manager” position in 1986, I vowed never to let that happen again and became self-employed.
I teamed up with a friend, Graham Reece to run Stargazer Discos, a fledgling entertainment agency . Within a matter of months, using my managerial and promotional skills, the company had expanded from just one DJ on its “books” (Graham) to around 30. Shortly afterwards, Graham died unexpectedly, leaving me to run the company on my own.
Most of our work came from recommendations but we attracted a huge quantity of enquiries from carefully worded, strategically placed ads in Yellow Pages. Eventually however Yellow Pages dominance of the advertising industry faded, to be replaced by the internet.
Starting in around 2008, I became passionately interested in the process of on-line marketing or S.E.O. (Search Engine Optimisation). I took course after course and devoured any books and info I could find about the process.
Having successfully applied various SEO strategies to my own very basic website, I took my digital skills to the next level by learning HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver and Photoshop.. Many friends and former DJ employees, were impressed with my designs and my ability to get high search engine ranking positions on Google. Several contracted me to design and optimise sites for them. This lead to more offers of work and 3 in 1 Web Design was born.
