Fundamental Digital Skills

In by Marianna Kisandraki

Fundamental Digital Skills is a project funded by RBKC’s Adult Learning Service (ALS) from GLA Adult Education Budget. Under this project Portobello Business Centre will provide 3 “Fundamental Digital Skills” training courses that will assist applicants wanting a better understanding of creating a website with the help of WordPress or Shopify. Free online platforms such as Mailchimp and Eventbrite will also be presented, as well as SEO (search engine optimisation) tips; practical examples will be given by experienced lectures.

This project is open to RBKC residents who are thinking of starting a business or who have a start-up business or an existing business but have not yet pivoted towards fully embracing their digital potential; they may also be:

  • impacted by the Grenfell fire
  • low-income parents
  • lone parents
  • caught in the poverty trap
  • sporadically-employed

Limited places are available to residents of the surrounding boroughs. The courses are designed for beginners and intermediate-level candidates and will be delivered online via Zoom over 3 days with a total of 12 learning hours each time.

Attendance of the entire course on which you enrol is mandatory; dates below:

  • Fundamental Digital Skills – WordPress, April 2022: details here
  • Fundamental Digital Skills – Shopify, June 2022: details here
  • Fundamental Digital Skills – WordPress, July 2022: details here

EACH REGISTRANT CAN ONLY ATTEND ONE COURSE. THE TWO WORDPRESS COURSES ARE THE SAME.

The skills gained would also be transferable to an employment setting. One-to-one support is available for RBKC residents only after the full attendance of the entire course.

Registration via the RBKC enrolment form and proof of eligibility are mandatory.

The courses are fully-funded, but a small donation to PBC would be a great gesture for our small team:
