Shaping the Future: PBC’s search for a Fundraising Strategy & Viability Consultant

Writer: David TaylorDavid Taylor

As a not-for-profit organisation with nearly three decades of experience, PBC is always looking ahead. The world of 2025 is vastly different from when we began in 1997. The rise of the internet, social media and smartphones has transformed the world of business, making it easier than ever for individuals to start and scale enterprises - not just in North Kensington, but globally.

At the same time, the landscape for SMEs has evolved dramatically. Barriers that once stood in the way of aspiring entrepreneurs have largely disappeared. Today, anyone with a computer, internet access and a bank account can launch a business, operating far beyond their local community. While this opens up new opportunities, it also means small businesses face increasing competition, requiring them to be more innovative, resilient and adaptable.

Our Commitment to Entrepreneurs

Our mission remains to empower and support start-ups and small businesses across London and the UK. But to continue to do this effectively, we must think entrepreneurially about our own future as well.

While we already offer a range of fully funded and paid services - including workshops, one-to-one advisory sessions and events - we know that relying on these funding sources alone is not enough. The demand for high-quality, accessible business support continues to grow and we want to ensure that we reach as many entrepreneurs as possible, now and in the future.

That’s why we are now exploring the feasibility of a dedicated fundraising function to help expand our impact and secure long-term sustainability.

The Role: A Strategic Fundraising Consultant

To guide us in this next phase, we are seeking a highly experienced consultant to carry out a six-month strategic scoping project.

This role is not about direct fundraising but about developing a clear, data-driven strategy to assess our fundraising potential and outline a long-term revenue generation roadmap. The consultant will explore various funding sources, including corporate partnerships, grant funding and philanthropic contributions, to determine the most viable options for PBC.

A Message from Our CEO

PBC’s CEO, Dr. Sheela Sharma, explains:

“For some time now, the Board at PBC has recognised the need to explore a variety of funding sources. Before committing to a permanent fundraising function, we want to take a strategic approach - engaging an experienced consultant to assess our potential, conduct market research and develop a clear roadmap for long-term financial sustainability.

“With our strong track record of supporting entrepreneurs, our expert advisory team and our commitment to innovation, we believe PBC is well-positioned to partner with corporates, trusts and charities looking to make a meaningful impact in enterprise support and economic development.”

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a highly experienced fundraising strategist with a strong background in market research, impact assessment and strategic fundraising planning. If you have expertise in evaluating fundraising potential, developing revenue models and shaping long-term funding strategies for not-for-profits, this could be the perfect opportunity.

This London-based, office-based role offers an opportunity to shape PBC’s long-term sustainability and help us continue empowering entrepreneurs for years to come.
