Businesses in North Kensington have expressed a keen interest in more collaboration with each other and other businesses in the wider area.

Business Meeting

Portobello Business Centre have undertaken considerable work resulting in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea asking us to proceed in partnership with the CouncilLondon Business Hub and local businesses to develop a Business Forum. The North Kensington Connected Business Forum was formed and held its inaugural meeting in June 2020, postponed from March due to lockdown.

So far, Portobello Business Centre have organised five virtual meetings via Zoom (following Government guidance due to the circumstances at that time) in June 2020, September 2020, November 2020, February 2021, and April 2021, and an in-person event with limited numbers in July 2021 to celebrate the Forum’s first anniversary. It is our goal to run these bi-monthly and to switch to a more conventional meeting-room approach when we are allowed and businesses are comfortable. Businesses have the opportunity to meet Councillor Catherine Faulks (Lead member for Economy, Employment and Innovation), ask questions, get their answers in a friendly atmosphere, as well as to listen to experienced professionals covering interesting business topics. Our November meeting included a major Q&A session with our MP for Kensington, Felicity Buchan. A major focus of the meetings is to replicate networking events, hence for part of the session businesses are separated into break-out rooms – giving them the chance to speak in smaller groups and build their contacts.

North Kensington Connected (also know as “NKC”) is growing steadily and we now have over 80 businesses of differing sizes as part of the Forum. These range from sole traders to businesses with almost 50 employees. Furthermore, the Forum is now starting to make a difference with business referrals now taking place regularly between Forum members. We will also be building a dedicated discounted services offering for our members who are also kept informed and assisted with the numerous financial assistance and other measures available from the Government, Council, and London Growth Hub. At this difficult time for businesses, North Kensington Connected is here to provide valuable and much-needed support.

North Kensington Connected (NKC)’s mission statement: To enable the businesses of North Kensington to develop long-term success through mutual collaboration and a network of support.

The next Business Forum Meeting will take place on 18th October 2021, click HERE for all the details.
