Covid-19 – Government roadmap announcement

The Government has announced plans to phase the country out of lockdown using four tests which must be met before we move through the step. Each significant step will depend on the success of previous rule-relaxations and may be revised should cases increase significantly.  Visit www.gov.uk/coronavirus  and our website.  Businesses will learn the extent of further support from the Chancellor in next week’s budget on 3 March.  The roadmap indicates the soonest possible date the Government aim to reopen various services and industries.  For businesses the current key dates are:

Monday 29 March

Organised and recreational outdoor sports will be reallowed

Monday 12 April

Indoor leisure centres including gyms for individuals or household groups

Outdoor attractions such as zoos and theme parks

Libraries, museums and community centres

Personal care premises, such as salons and barbers

All retail and outdoor pubs and dining

All children’s activities with indoor parent and child groups (up to 15 parents)

Holiday lets where indoor facilities are not shared with others

Monday 17 May

Indoor hospitality such as pubs, nightclubs, cinemas and hotels 

International travel

Monday 21 June

Larger events and unrestricted attendees to life events such as weddings and funerals

Government announces NEW £20 million SME Brexit Support Fund

Offers up to £2,000 support to help small businesses adjust to new customs procedures. Eligibility: Up to 500 employees, and no more than £100 million annual turnover, SMEs who trade only with the EU, and are therefore new to importing and exporting processes. For guidance click here.

Covid-19 testing and working safely guidance.

Post the PM’s announcements yesterday, the rules very much remain – work from home if possible, keep travel to a minimum, socially distance, wear a mask, and wash your hands.  Even as we progress through the year and into these plans, caution should remain and unnecessary outings avoided.

  • National workplace testing is aimed at companies with over 50 employees, to support the establishment of asymptomatic testing sites in company premises. Visit this page- https://www.gov.uk/get-workplace-coronavirus-tests. You can register to order tests if you employ more than 50 people and your employees cannot work from home.
  • For those who cannot work from home, including construction workers, can now visit one of three sites to get a rapid community test in RBKC.  Information here

  • Guidance for people who work in or from vehicles: Guidance has been updated with information on tests and vaccinations.
